NHBC Technical Extra November 2014 – Issue 16

The National House Building Council (NHBC) has this week launched the NHBC Technical Extra November 2014 – Issue 16 which introduces the chapter: ‘Waterproofing of basements and other below ground structures’. This new chapter is a key component in NHBC’s drive to improve basement construction. It is a chapter that introduces meaningful benchmarks for a vast amount of situations where the structure is required to resist the ingress of water from the ground and other sources, where ‘normal’ waterproofing installations are not considered appropriate. The Technical Extra issue covers a basement pilot, an industry perspective (from the PCA) and a good in depth practice case study. The Technical Extra is primarily aimed at technical and construction directors and managers, architects, designers and site managers, but is a good read for anyone interested or looking for work in the subject.
