Condensation problem on the back of a Wardrobe

We were called to investigate a damp problem in a house in Reading, Berkshire and found that it was being caused by severe condensation. The condensation problem was so bad that it was even forming inside a wardrobe which was up against a cold outside wall. The clothes that were stored in the cupboard had become mouldy and had to be thrown out.

Solution to the condensation problem

The solution to the damp problem in this case was to improve the heating and ventilation to the property. The tenant managed to stop the problem through increasing the length of time that the central heating was on (using timers), ventilating the kitchen and bathroom with the existing extractor fans (which had previously been turned off), and moving the large furniture away from the cold external walls.
